With this body of work, inspired by the landscapes of Antarctica and the Himalayas, artist "Phuong Dang" explores the mutual relationship between humans and nature with its dramatic, sublime and often overwhelming power and beauty.
Our existence may be very small and insignificant in front of nature yet our effect on nature can be devastating.
Yearning for that essential balance is the key source of inspiration for this body of work and continues to be the challenge of man.
The haute couture world is an unusual birthplace for a fine artist, but it all makes sense when you meet Phuong Dang. Having created high fashion make-up looks for many famous fashion houses and major publications including Vogue, W and Harpers Bazaar for over ten years, Phuong has applied her creativity to canvas. Her abstract oils on canvas - often in large scale - are masterpieces of refined beauty that draw you in and surprise by their depth, texture and necessarily personal meaning.
Phuong was born in Vietnam and educated in London. Her solo exhibitions in Hong Kong and Singapore were great success, on the back of which she has received numerous commissions for her work. Phuong’s work has been exhibited in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Australia. Her work is represented in both private and corporate collections in the US, UK, Belgium, Australia, Mexico, Hong Kong and Singapore. Currently Phuong is pursuing her Master in Fine Arts (Goldsmiths) at Lasalle - College of The Arts in Singapore.
